Bridgerton meets Schitt’s Creek in 17th Century Paris!
In a world obsessed with wealth, status and power, the Miser feels more relevant than ever. Moliere’s timeless comedy comes to life in a sleek contemporary production, where money isn’t just power - it’s everything.

Harpagon, the obsessive, tight-fisted patriarch, will do anything to protect the fortune he is too stingy to spend; his entitled and penniless children will do anything to try and obtain it to maintain their ridiculous life-styles; the down-trodden servants just want a piece of the pie and are willing to do just about anything to get it!
Fast-paced, sharp and irresistibly funny, this modern take on The Miser brings all the biting satire, hilarious misunderstandings and outrageous 17th Century Parisian fashion as the original, which was played to the Court of Louis XIV in Versailles. This adaptation is extremely faithful to Moliere’s work, but with none of the language barriers of so many of the more literal and stilted translations of recent years.
Known as the inventor of farce, Moliere’s comedy has lost none of its edge. Enjoy the larger than life characters, extravagant costumes, ridiculous situations, and outrageous jokes that have caused this wonderful play to endure the last 400 years! With a little singing and dancing as well…
Come and enjoy this razor-sharp comedy in the beautiful Vermont setting of the Isham Barn Theatre, and laugh heartily at how little humanity has changed in 400 years.
